just taken my old 1980 heritage special out from under its covers and finaly got it down to my shed where it has been for the last 14 years.
done a quick compresion test and got 100 psi on both cylinders i think thats ok so hoping to get away without an engine rebuild? No water or bits in the oil and no sign of rust on the valves or pistons. The exhaust got mor holes than a tea bag but hoping to use the stock head pipes.Brakes seizeed front and back .The british weather has not been to kind, what a mess,I think this is going to take some time as parts are hard to come by.Lots of very useful info on this web page been looking for some time thought it was time i became a member as i have biten of more than i can chew :yikes:

Just read up on start up after setting awhile. Many threads on that in the tech section. Do it right and your bike will give you many years of good service, do it wrong and that rebuild will be needed sooner than you want.
