Just finished installing a newtronics optical ignition. It was a little harder to set up than a pamco but much easier than points (rephased). I like the static timing indicators, just unplug the coil and rotate til the lights go out.
One caveat is that it lends itself to megacycle or Web cams that have the atu index pin in the correct spot. With a cam that's been cut and twisted it's not possible to retard it enough to set the base timing. I got around this by drilling a new hole In the cam using my eyecrometers (copyright HHB)
I took it for a test spin and it ran better than it ever has, definitely revved out better than the points setup, equal to the pamco. I'll update if it kicks.
