Oil filter bolt

I’m starting to put my XS-2 back together and noticed that there is a screw in the center of the bolt that goes thru the oil filter with a ball bearing and a spring behind it.
Mine wasn’t tight when I removed it to clean inside.
Is this some kind of adjustment? I’ve looked in the service manual and there’s no mention of it, just shows to remove bolt to remove the filter.
Any ideas? Thanks

Should be tight. Bound to be a torque setting here somewhere.

That screw should be flush with the end of the bolt. It controls the bypass should the strainer become clogged. You can adjust the setting by screwing it in or out, but flush is a good place to set it.
