Petcock leaking....

I bought the http://www.mikesxs.net/product/20-0019.html Petcock from the site(two years ago) I am getting a small leak that makes the hose wet, but it stops if I shut the petcock off. I am thinking that the issues is the seal on the brass nipple but I recently replaced the seal and it started leaking again. Any thoughts? Has anyone used like a gasket sealer on the threads

I'd be tempted to try a little bit of teflon tape, though not sure how that would hold up to gas.
