pre 74 swingarm / axle differences

just curious about some differences in pre 74 swingarms and rear axles.
i think prior to 74 they were 2 inches shorter right?
i need to know if there are any differences in rear axles also? spacing differences?
can anyone confirm?

I know they are narrower by over an inch at least.
