Got my powder coat area all set up. Chopped the hell out of the double oven and made it into one big oven with one door. Anxious to give it a try.

I wanna see how this works, what are you going to be powder coating? Im guessing you cant fit a frame in there

Oh what ever I can, probably even my wife's silverware lol. I have a few pieces from my rebuild to do. I read tons of positive reviews on it on different forums. Even some powder coating companies commented that its close to as good as there 2k guns. We'll see.

Wow I am absolutely amazed and well this things works. We messed around tonight on a few pieces, even did a beer can. It is so fast and easy. Turned out as good as the parts I have paid to have done.

You just started and did that beer can? You used a stencil mask? That's sophisticated stuff if that's how you did it. Looks good in any case. :)

I bought a fairly high end gun a couple of years ago and its still in the box.

Lol that's a sticker my buddy put on it. I wish I was that good

Looks just like my oven Good job! I did a write up on it over at the caswell forum. Check powder365.com thats the new hot spot.

i have the HF coater too!! I'm having a hrad time with the red. are you using HF powder? or getting High quality powder.
I preheat the part to 400F then aply three coats, cook for 20 minutes, turn oven off, dont open door, let it cool on its own in there, but the finish isnt smooth. how'd you do it?

Don't forget guys that powder is potentially explosive! Make sure you routinely vacuum out the shed and around the roof, rafters etc. I know a guy who's shed combusted and exploded from saw dust built up over the years. Also use a mask and goggles! Safety first…

Oh and of course nice results! Wish I had more money and space for all these toys

Well I'm still learning but getting great results. I preheat the oven to 400. Spray the part with 1 moderately heavy coat, bake for 15 min, turn off heat, crack door a couple inches and cool part until it can be handled. Virgin or oily metal I outgas it at 500 for 15 min before spraying. It sounds like your cooking it to long. Keep a eye on it and only go around 5 min past flow and open the door to slow cool it,with the door closed your still baking it.

ahhhh.. ok. no preheat, unless oily, cook for 15 minutes, turn off oven, crack open door. I will try again next weekend. spring cleaning this weekend. ugh.
