Remove Dust Covers

Does anyone know how to remove the dust covers on these forks. This is a 1972 with some custom work done on the forks and I can't figure out how to remove those dust covers over the seals. I realize the forks have to come off first. Any help would be appreciated.

Not for sure but I think the chrome covers will slide up with a little persuasion. There may be a groove on the seal that the chrome cover engages to hold it in place. Someone that knows for sure will respond soon I'll bet.

It looks like those chrome covers are installed over the stock rubber dust covers. So yes, soaking with some CRC 5-56/ WD40 or similar, and some persuasion should get them off.
