When cleaning up my aluminum bits, I ended up using blue Roloc discs on my Milwaukee cordless “die grinder”. This tool on runs max 4,000 rpm. I’m sure many on this site use these (rolocs) on a regular basis. When used quite a bit, the diameter of the disc shrinks and the amount of abrasive on the outer edge diminishes. This is good for getting into corners. On occasion it would be nice to have a smaller diameter disc with full abrasive power, so I did this - I got out my gasket punch set and took the largest punch and used it to cut the center out of a well used or otherwise worn out disc. I endend up with a small diameter disc with good cutting power.
I could have hammered the punch through the disc but chose to push it through the pad using a hood sized vise, pushing the punch into an aluminum plate so the punch wouldn’t be damaged.
