Starter trouble

Hi All,

I swapped the hi bars that were on my 1978 xs650 to a set of drag bars (soon to swap again to clubmans). Anyway before I swapped the bars, the electric starter worked just fine. All I did was put the drag bars on ans now no electrical start. Down to just kick start right now. Any ideas what it could be?

check that the bars have a good ground, use a muti-meter check for continuity between the bars and frame or - side of battery

Will do... Did not know that the bars needed to be grounded. The bars are powdercoated glossy black (previous bars were chrome). So do I need to lightly sand off the powdercoat in specific areas to get a good ground? I would assume where the clamps grab the bar and possibly under the right controls? BTW thanks for the response.
