TR6 tank on a xs?

I am so frustrated at this point. I am trying for a cafe build but can not find a tank. Two eBay options fell through and I can not seem to find any new tanks that fit the build. I have a 72 and would either like a stock tank or ideally a xs750 tank. I do have access to a Triumph TR6 tank that is new and cheap. How would that look? Anyone ever saw one? Any other options out there to find a tank?

Take a bit of fab work...but I love the look of Triumph tanks. Plan to use one on my next bobber build.

I don't know if you have any local salvage yards, but they can be a gold mine too.

I also saw a CB750 running around with an old BSA tank the other day, that may be an option to look into. They are plentiful, but not horribly cheap on Ebay. A good specimen could run you $200-$300+ pretty easy.

Found this pic of what appears to be a TR6 style tank on an XS, although it looks a little stubby so it might be aftermarket. Looks like he ground the ears off the frame and attached the tank to the bike on the coil brackets.



I like what he did to the alternator cover too.
