Tyre Sizes - Firestone

Hi there, I'm buying some Firestone Classic Deluxe Tyres for my 1978 xs650. I'm in the UK and so I'm buying them through Nort Hants Tyres www.northhantstyres.com

I contacted them to ask what sizes I'd need to order for my bike and they werent sure however they said that the sizes they had were....

400x19in (front)
500 x19in (rear)

Can you tell me, are those profiles okay? I have a 78 special with 16in on the rear and 19 on the front. Obviously those match the tyre sizes but I wasnt sure about profile width / Height. Are 400 and 500 correct? Anyone else running that set up? I'd like to be sure before I order them as they cost £££££££££

Thanks mate. How does that relate to the sizes firestone have given? I dont know a great deal about tyres. you have 3 variables in the sizes you give where as they only give 2

Okay thanks guys. Not sure how to use those figures to work out whether the 2 sizes I posted initially will be okay or not. I just need to know if they fit and if they're okay. Anyone else running those sizes (the sizes I posted)?

they will fit ok

400x19in (front) is a little wider than recomended size but I see no problem with the size.larger size is often used
500 x19in (rear) is recomended size

Both tires will work fine. You can find multiple examples on the site. I am running the same sizes on my mag wheels. 400/19 and 500/16
