Sort of. You may not want to spend $50 on a new manual replacement petcock for your '78 (?) and up vacuum one; or you may like the safety factor of gas shutting off when your engine quits, but not having a manual off makes you paranoid.
I've never read of this alternative on the boards. This is Dan's MC's solution to a leaky petcock, but it would also work for a paranoid petcock.
