Finally, I found my Holy Grail Bike!

Here it is....bought from the bike's original 75 year old owner.

A beautiful 1970 XS-1, all original, 15,000 original miles, always stored inside...a true gem.

I drove 15 hours round trip to get it and I couldn't be more happy with it!

Thank you again Larry, its found a loving home.

This bike is going to look perfect next to the 1971 XS-1B that I bought from it's original 73 year old owner last year too (Thanks again Wayne!!).

I love the early ones, been looking for a pristine '70 for a long time.

The other, newer ones I have are for future Street Tracker, Café, and or Scrambler projects.

I bought the newer ones back when they were a dime a dozen, try finding em cheap now!!

The Hipsters have definitely found these wonderful bikes, as evidenced by my trip to "The One" motorcycle show in Portland last year.

There were so many XS engines in so many different themed bikes it was crazy!

Vinnie you got do us po bstds piecing together bikes from old scrap a REAL FAVOR? Do up a serious photo shoot THEN upload the pics to the site and do a thread on it. That could become the definitive resource for the restorers guide. What's the VIN, or near abouts?

Here ya go...a few more pics as a few have requested. The green changes color every time the lighting hits it differently, lol.

The headlight nacelle is different, Larry put a more modern bucket on there in order to use more modern lighting, but I have all the original stuff to go back on...just haven't had time to throw it back on yet.

The turn signals did not come on the bike either.

Larry noted that as the bike did indeed come equipped with a signal indicator light on the tachometer and the switch gear on the left handlebar he didn't see a reason to have no signals on it.

So, back when the bike was new, he had signals installed that a local dealer had left over from some enduro take offs.

I'll be removing them as well.

Fantastic pics, Vince. And Larry's write-up is great, too. Yes, the 'dog assist' kickstart is helpful.
It appears that you also have the even rarer right-side clamp-on mirror, in pristine shape.
Are missing that odd half-moon washer for the chainguard, item #22 in this pic?

woooooooow... that is beautiful!!....Yeah I don't really agree with the blinkers either, I'm assuming when he rode it on occasion that he ride around a mass amount traffic or public? I

That is absolutely sweet! Those look like the correct signals but the front mounts should be in the headlight bucket side bolt holes for '70 and I really can't remember how the rears mount.
