I am an Industrial Hygienist for a large chemical company in upper east TN. I evaluate employee exposures to chemicals (fumes, gases, vapors, particulates, etc.), and physical agents like noise, ionizing radiation and non-ionizing radiation (e.g., EMF, UV, IR, microwaves), heat stress, etc. Primarily OSHA compliance related work.
I also write procedures, technical reports, develop training programs, etc. Just joined a team dealing with confined space ventilation issues, air movers & set-up strategies. I support our 1,000+ employee maintenance division, so I work with alot of metal fabricators, pipe fitters, brick masons, mechanics, etc. Quite often I monitor for things like arsenic, hexavalent chromium (stainless steel welding), lead, silica, you name it. Next year, I should be traveling to Germany to support 2-3 small sites with I.H. issues.
