I have a 1980 XS and am looking to sharpen the edges a little, so I'm looking for a 1970 tank. Condition and color matter less as I will probably re-finish in matte black, regardless. Let me know if you have one and we can e-mail about price/shipping.
Hey guys,
I am running a lowbrow p-nut tank and bought one of their cheaper 1/4 turn gas caps. The cork seal in it is total crap and is shredding pretty fast. I'm ok to buy a new cap but the metal parts of the cap seem totally fine. Any thoughts on 1) if I should get a new cork seal and if...
Hey guys, been checking out the lowbrow tanks and was wondering if anyone was running either the frisco or sporty tank on their bikes? Ide love to see some pics of any setups if ya got em!

G'Day Fellas, Can any of you help me to identify who made the fuel tank on this bike? I am looking for one that is as low as I can get for my standard 650-B frame.

I was looking for a different tank to put on my bike and thought a Mustang would be a nice replacement. I think I read that they will not fit a stock frame though, bummer. I am looking for something a little rounder. The P-nut looks nice, but I am wondering if the smaller tank is a pain in the...
Well guys I bought a tank off of ebay and it has some sort of inner-liner (Kreem or something like it) in it that's flaking off. Does anyone got any good tips for removing it? I was considering taking it to a radiator shop and having them boil it out. Any thoughts on it?
Also what do you guys...
I've got the tank off and have cleaned most of the paint from it. The inside was washed a while ago with muriatic acid and water then rinsed and a light oil spray to keep the rustworms away. My problem is that I noticed a crack from the filler neck to the nose of the tank. The metal here is...
I've been searching this most of the morning and so far I haven't come up with anything conclusive. I've heard that the DT model tanks fit with a little work, but I can't figure out what "a little work" consists of. Anyone know?
I'm building a street tracker and I've swapped the front end...

Hey guys. I have a peanut tank knock-off with some haggard petcocks. The only problem is, the threading is 7/16, and I can only find petcocks in 1/2, 3/8, and 3/4. I'm hoping that somebody has had this problem and could point me in the right direction to find some petcocks that will fit. Also, I...
Just a quick heads up:
The rear rubber mount for the gas tank is there for a reason.
Mine was missing and the vibration from a short ride was enough to crack it.
"Common sense ain't so common."
Here are a couple pics after a quick weld:
I've read that the fuel fill cap on earlier bikes was aluminum with the Yamaha emblem on it. Will this cap fit the tank on my '77 to replace my chrome one? Will the key mechanism interchange? Does anyone have a photo of the early one, or have an extra cap to sell?
Thanks
Hello Forum,
Can someone offer some insight about putting a custom tank on a 650?
I would imagine that I have to use a 650 petcock. Or do I?
Do I need to run two petcocks, or is one with a T in the fuel line sufficient?
And then what's the most efficient way to do it? Close up the...
