Yes, your footpeg mount acorn nuts are not correct. They look like the long acorns from the top of the motor. And yes, there should also be a flat washer and lock washer like 2M's pic. But the flat washer isn't chrome, at least not on the later models, just cad plated. Maybe 2M's early model got that chrome one and it was done away with as a cost cutting measure.

The proper flat washers are easy to identify. They have a "B" stamped on them. I have no idea what that signifies, if anything, but if ever I run across one, I know exactly what it is and where it goes .....

Once mounted, you can still see part of the "B" sticking out from behind the lock washer .....

40 years has taken a toll on my '78 mounts, lol, but the "B" is still there .....

More stuff to order from Bolt Depot.

My washers were shot to say the least. what I did was order extra thick stainless steel 1/4 inch fender washers from Amazon. Turned them down to the OD that I wanted and then punched the ID to size. I had no luck getting lock washers with the OD I wanted.

Well, Partzilla still has OEM washers for a buck and a half each..... so I have options, and what's on there will work for now.
