XS650 FEST & CHOPOFF "2016" (Chop It - Build It- Bring it)

Here's my January update...gonna be a slow build since I'm still moving into my house. I just hope it's done in time. This is also my first ever xs and first ever build. I can't wait to meet some of you guys and see your builds as well.

Here's what I started with

I bought it on a Wednesday and rode it to BMR on Friday....it gave me ALL KINDS of trouble. Come to find out the intake boots were cracked all to hell so I had to replace those. Once it started getting colder I started taking everything apart and sent my crank and cam to hugh.

I got my cases cleaned by a friend of my grandfathers for $30. Got a springer from a member on here. Got a big bore kit, xscharge PMA (Hugh was out of stock) and Pamco from mikesxs. My seat I got from an old bike friend of mine. And here is where I am now.

Here is my end of February update. This is my first ground up build. bought a motor and frame on a roller cart for $250 two years ago, i have been stockpiling parts when i could afford them, finally have enough to actually do this! The original frame is a 1982, i was given a 1974 TX650 that was sitting in the weeds at my buddies grand dad's house. I used the front end off of it. Found some Rain Catchers and brake parts off a guy on craigslist for $40. Then I had a roller, but its been a slow process due to changing jobs and bills ha! Tried to participate last year, but ran out of time and money! the last pic is where i am at the current state, still plenty of tricky wiring, paint, powder coat, hoping to have her on the road for the Annual Blessing of the Bikes up in Baldwin Michigan in May!
