650 Rear Drum Brake Plates

Well, I have been puzzling over how bad my rear brake is. Then I came across this thread and checked the dimple.

Yes, it can make a real difference. I'm so glad 2M discovered this little known factoid. On the rear brake plates I've seen, it seems more are assembled wrong than right, lol. I think many came from the factory like this. Apparently even the assembly workers didn't know about this, lol.
 
There is a definite difference in how the shoes move. My qualitative take is that with the correct orientation, the end of the top shoe that is facing the wheel forward rotation moves upward at a greater rate.
