Hey guys, new here. First post. I have a 73 650 the clutch has started slipping when I open the throttle up at high rpms (acts as if I quickly grabbed and released the clutch) i let off the throttle and ease it back up with no slippage. I am guessing it's the plates and/or springs. I have yet to tear into it. The question I have is regarding mikesxs suggestion on his site to throw out the o rings and use an additional plate since they no longer make a replacement for my year. Has anyone tried this? Did it work? Any input would be greatly appreciated since this will be my first time digging into the clutch.

Welcome to the forum, Darkstar. Yes, you can upgrade to the later clutch, but you must replace all the thicker friction plates (6) and steels (5) with the thinner frictions (7) and steels (6). This retains the original total clutchpack stack-up thickness. The o-rings get tossed. To learn more, try forum search of "stack-up" and "stackup"...
