Well after getting this thing running I discovered that I had not gotten the fuel tank as clean as I had thought. It was really dirty, I did 3 vinegar soaks of 48hr each and rinsed with water after the third. It's a pretty sizable tank with a tiny filler neck so its hard to see into the back of the tank. It immediately fouled the petcock pickup screen. So back off it came, this time I filled it with acetone and let it sit for 3 days. This seemed to knock a LOT of shit loose, mostly varnished gas that the vinegar had not touched. Once all the varnished gas had been removed by the acetone there was more rust underneath. So back to another round of vinegar. This seemed to do the trick, I hosed it out with my garden hose on high pressure and knocked the rest of the loose crud out. I chased the water with 4 gas rinses and dumped a little Marvel Mystery Oil in it to give it an oil coating then filled it with gas. It seems to be clean now. I'm going to shake it down this weekend then put the new tires and brakes on. After that its all hers.
