alternative chain oiling

For the o-ring chain on my '83, I've had good luck so far just brushing it with black moly grease a couple times a season. It doesn't fling off and so far has kept the chain from rusting. I'm tempted to try it on my regular chain on the '78.

When I was on the KLR650 forum, a high milage rider expermented with O-ring chains. he got 20k miles from a chain he lubed regulary, but also got 20k miles on an identical O-ring chain he never lubed.

KLRs are hard on chains though.
I had 30K miles on a CBX550 chain that was lubed with a Scotoiler and it had only been adjusted once when I sold it. Plenty of life left in it.
