Well, my bike seems to be extra clattery/buzzy lately. I'm thinking the front guide may be giving up the ghost. I adjusted my tensioner last year by putting the pin flush with the nut head like you do, but I have read that may be too tight, and loosening it a bit might help calm it down. I'd like to avoid pulling the motor if possible, so any other plan of attack would be appreciated.

Hey Mac! That's the thermometer feature of your bike, standard on Canadian models.
It's telling you that it's getting warm enuff to ride, maybe even shed a layer of parka.

The clattering could be from a variety of reasons. You're best off probing with a mechanic's stethoscope. Search "stethoscope" for some tips...

The best and easiest way to adjust/check the cam chain adjustment is with the engine idling, and it should be done quite often too, like every 1000 miles.
