Hello,

I have a hard time finding carb holders for my 1979 XS650 Special II.

MikesXS suggested this type: http://www.mikesxs.net/product/48-7479.html, but they are out of stock and the description says:

"38mm. Carb Holder Set for stock Mikuni BS38CV carburetors.
Same as used on 70-77 models. Air barbs are for balancing carbs or operation of
original vacuum type petcocks.

Fits: All 1970-77 650's.

OEM reference: 447-13555-01-00 LH, 447-13565-01-00 RH"

As mine is a '79 model I hesitate ordering this type, also the OEM part number for the holder for the '79 model is different.

What about the ethanol resistance of MikesXS carb holders?

I checked JBM, but they don't seem to offer the type I need with the air barb. I saw OEM holders on eBay, but they were VERY pricey and I wonder if the aged 30+ year old rubber is still in good shape.

Any help would be much appreciated!
Armin

Carb holders don't fit all years. The early, 70-73 used straight holders, the 74 up used angled holders. The early held the carbs straight out from the engine, the later held the carbs pointing straight back.
Your 79 holders are right side #3G1-13586-00-00, left #3G1-13596-00-00
Boats.net shows them availible at $53.33 each.
Tour Max was the last set I bought. Try searching for Tour Max.
Ebay item # 260857771949, $51.95 a set.

Thank you, Leo, I saw the ones on eBay, but the description does not show "1979".

According to the parts fiche I thought I would need
2F0-13586-00-00 and 2F0-13596-00-00 (?)

Greetings from Colorado,
Armin

I checked the parts fiches at boats.net and it looks like 2F0-13586-00-00 / 2F0-13596-00-00 and 3G1-13586-00-00 / 3G1-13596-00-00 are interchangeable.

I will get the eBay items. hope they tolerate ethanol...

Thanks again!
Armin

The Tour Max holders will. There are several holders under XS650 carb holders that have a Tour Max part number, #11-6239, they don't say they are Tour Max, but might be.

Sorry Leo i disagree

QTreiber, Might want to double check what carbs you have.

78E/SE, 79F/SF/Special ll have 2F0-13586-00-00 and 2F0 13596-00-00.......vacuum petcock manifolds

2FO is for BS38's and

80G/SG/H/SH/J/K have 3G1 13586-00-00 and 3G1 13956-00-00.....vacuum petcock manifolds

3G1 are for BS34's

AFAIK no they stopped putting the barbs in, citing problems with them coming loose. I think they have a how to if your want to add your own barbs. Also AFAIK 79 carbs have threaded taps with caps to put vacuum barbs on them to synch.
