Don't be like me.

Today, I put the head back on. Torqued head bolts in the correct pattern, slowly to the correct torque. Got so excited with the new torque wrench I decided to check the torque on the tiny bolts holding the cam chain guide in.

Forgot of course, that I'd already put these in with loctite.

Tore the head off of one of them. :banghead:

Of course, replacing the cam chain guide is the whole reason I started this project in the first place.

Why did I have to have a momentary brain fart?

stupid stupid stupid.

But, before you see a grown man cry...I...

....pulled the nut surrounding the bolt off, giving me access to the stud.

....took a trip to the hardware store for some more propane, a new metric bolt, an ez-out....

....got back home and drilled the center of the stud....

....broke off the drill bit in the center of the stud :yikes:

....almost cried again....

....found a pair of perfectly good needle nose vice grips....

....ground down the tip until they'd fit in the hole, around the stud....

.....heated the heck out of it with the propane torch, while slowly turning with the vice grips....and after a few minutes it came out....

...now it's back together with a new bolt, new loctite, and accurately torqued to 6.5 ftlbs with the new torque wrench...

and....my heart is beating again...:bike:
