Do 76 forks interchange with 80?

I am looking at swapping my fork from my 76 with someone for their shaved forks from an 80. We are both concerned about whether they are a direct swap or not. If not what is the difference? I just want to swap the fork tubes ad keep my trees, axle and wheel. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

That won't work. Your forks have 34mm tubes, the '80 set has 35mm tubes. There are other differences as well. You have the early style brake caliper. It's mounting hole spacing differs from the later style. It won't mount on the newer fork leg and your buddy's new style caliper won't mount on your leg.
