1974-1975, part #21.
1976-1977, part #24.
Only shown in diagrams for these 4 years. Never seen in the flesh or photographs.
Just curious, has anyone ever seen one?
A bit of a hijack but what do you guys use when rebuilding the inner filter Part #10 as in what kind of glue when using the Uni filter materialView attachment 159982

Thanks Mailman. This is a left-side 1977 airbox (with the filter door removed), the exact same part that you have the K&N sticker on, part # 10 in the 76-77 diagram. I am convinced that part # 24, the silencer, never existed, at least not on U.S. models. If it did, it would have to be made out of flexible foam, that's the only way that it could be squeezed in through the airbox door, which is too narrow, and put into the big, empty, rear chamber of the box.
edit looks like part # 19 or # 10A bit of a hijack but what do you guys use when rebuilding the inner filter Part #10 as in what kind of glue when using the Uni filter material
Thanks Gary! now to get them indoors to work on themSo far I cut the uni foam to be a bit of a push fit into the frame and wrap it with safety wire. gluing the foam filter ends together with weatherstrip adhesive should work also. If the expanded mesh is loose from the ends, then a good caulk gun tube mastic or 2 part bumper cement should reattach them.

I have this type on the 75 but so the wire wouldn't work but what ever I use to attach the foam shouldn't be affected by gas just the oil on the foamOops, I thought the metal box with the holes in the end was the silencer you referred to, like some kind of resonance chamber.

I did the same as Gary, I cut the foam into strips that was a little wide for a snug fit, and long enough to overlap a bit on the ends, then I used some twist wire around it to hold it in place. These photos don’t show the wire on yet.
