Hi All,
I just joined. Hope this will lead to something amazing down the line. Quick one: Does anyone know any XS650 Specialist in Chicagoland area? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Welcome Badmoto, from the looks of the responses it might have to be you ha!...there must be someone loacally who can help. Post up your issue, history, bike detail and some pictures always help, there are many excellent mechanics on here with plenty of help and advice. You might have to turn a few spanners though.....have a look in the tech section and use the search function, a lot of the fun / frustration derived from the XS 650 is repairing your bike yourself, again welcome
Cheers Mick

Haha, if thts the case then Chicago is doomed. I'm planning to get one (XS650) and take it from there. So logically, the first thing you do is join a blog :D.Thanks for the welcome Mike. Appreciate it 'Mate'.

Welcome to the site Badmoto. It used to be you could search the member list for people in your area then pm them. I don't think it is possible with the new format?
Your selection of mechanics will be limited to independent shops or someone working in their garage. Dealerships won't touch these, or any old bikes.
You might try connecting by asking dealership service and parts managers if they know of anyone.
Like Mick said best and most cost effective is DIY.

Thanks Weekendrider. I will keep those pointers in mind. Looks like a got some digging to do. Just want to cover all my bases before I commit to any project. As for DIY, tht would be a whole new chapter for me. Guess will need to start getting some grease under my nails.....

I'm hardly an expert but I know way around these bikes a little. I'm about 2.5 hours south, what kinda help you looking for?

I am planning on buying XS650 soon. So mostly will need to fix things that come with a 30 yr old motorcycle. And eventually customize it, Brat. Just trying to do some homework and see what options I got around here (Chicago) before I take the final plunge.

From the reviews I would stay away from Motorcycle Mania. It might pay to drop in Acme Cycle. Or get a motel room in Perkin and visit with figure8 on a weekend he is free. Take him for pizza and a brew?

Thanks Weekendrider & Figure8. I will remember that. Heard Albrecht Fast Track in Des Plaines are real nice guys. I don't have a motorcycle, so never got a chance to try them but heard very good things from a couple of people I know who own a motorcycle.
