I bought these from a guy who was hard tailing a special, but these shocks have spare smaller springs with them. My search showed not much info on this. Do I have to take them apart and add them? I am baffled.
Yes, both springs were on the shock originally, but these are reported to be really stiff. That's probably why the P.O. took one spring off, an attempt to soften the ride some. Yes, you would have to disassemble the shock to put the little spring back on, but being so stiff, they may be better like they are. I'd try them first.
Disassembly usually consists of compressing the spring and removing the top spring retainer ......
Shocks with long spring covers may require a different style of spring compressor compared to open spring shocks .....
