Early Carb/Float Bowl - Brass Drain Elbows Available

All,

I recently had a copy of the always broken press-in drain elbows made for a restoration Im doing for a friend. My local job-shop machinist made them out of brass. We made a few extras for now, and I will sell them to anyone who needs a pair. Im using them on the SOLEX carb bowls with the 1/8th in. pressfit hole.

They are made here in the USA, and are "pre-production", meaning that the ends are correctly sized but some of the bodies may be taller or shorter than each other a bit as we have not dialed in the optimal lengths and widths of the parts yet. I will bag up pairs and sell them for $35 if anyone wants them, and will update when we have more, standardized runs made. If there is sufficient interest.

Thanks. Mez.
Sorry for bringing this page back from the dead but are you still selling these?

I actually have 3 good ones left. I can send a pair in the US for $35 ,shipped.

I also had these 3d printed, not delrin, but similar fuel resistant material. I press in the brass inserts and out the door @ $20

Dan. I am out of those at the moment. I am tracking down a better "small parts" machinist and should have some soon.

Thanks Mez,

Appreciate the reply, please keep me in the loop.

Found a good machinist, working on prototypes now for both large & small elbows. And a fuel-resistant resin version with press-in brass connector.

Hey all,
Any feedback on the looks or materials I'm testing here? Would take any constructive criticism or suggestions that might make sense to guys with more experience than me with the older Japanese carb parts.

THX! Mez

BTW, the squared off one is easier to machine, and made of aluminum.

Dan, My machinist will make a larger version to cover fuel inlet as well as carb overflow elbows. Do you have any thoughts on aluminum vs. brass? And square body vs. round body? Thx. This will help to hear back from a potential user.

Can I get something like this for the Bs34s? The 1st generation ones didn't come w that nice little L like the later ones. Its just a drain bolt so idk how I would check fuel levels w clear tube method?

Those drain nipple float bowls can be swapped onto your BS34s. The 1981 XS1100 and 1982 XJ1100 had them as well. Those four cylinder bikes have a left and a right. The XS650 got two lefts.

I have a prototype pair that measure slightly over 1/8" to press in to the bottom of any 1/8" bowl drain opening
