Looking for a little help installing 3" spacers from Hugh's.
When I line up the hole in the spacer with the hole in the rod there leaves a gap.
Shouldn't the spacer be fully seated? If so the holes aren't gonna line up.
Also, I cut off 3" of spring but once reassembled I can't get the fork cap back on.
Do i need to cut off more Spring to accommodate the Gap?

any insight would be helpful.

Thanks,
Brian

I didn't have any issues like that with my 2" drop from Hugh. He's pretty good about answering emails if you reach out to him.

Just out of curiosity, which end of the spring did you cut? The one with tightly spaced coils, or more opening between coils? In any case, the spring rate will increase when cutting a spring. More so if cutting the tightly spaced end.
A higher spring rate may require less preload, i.e a shorter preload spacer.
It will always be harder to fit the fork caps, (which technically are plugs), when using a stiffer spring (higher spring rate is another term for a "stiffer" spring)

Hugh had me drill out another hole that lined up with his spacer, worked out perfect. Not sure which end of the spring that I cut off though to answer the other question. Here are a few photos after spacer install. Replaced stock rim with 21" rim that I laced up new.
