Thanks guys.
Maas, how did you polish the edges of the cooling fins? I want to do that but I am afraid...
You do that while you paint it. Sand the edges of the fins before you paint, by hand or with some sort of flapper on a die grinder. Get them nice and polished the way you want them. Then when you paint the head and cylinders, take a rag and dip it in acetone or something similar and take your finger and wipe/clean off the edges. It's easiest to do them while they're wet.
Another way is to paint them, let them dry, and then sand off the paint. However, I chose the first method I described.
Looking good....one might wonder what would happen if your carbs ever leaked tho ha. Just to throw it out there. I've heard of exhaust so close to the carbs that it boils the gas in them....idk ha
I like it though
Rick at Oldskoolcarbs is rebuilding my carbs so I'm banking on them not leaking, lol
That thought has crossed my mind about getting the fuel too hot. Which is why the pipes will be ceramic coated. Depending on how the pipes feel on break in, I might also wrap just the portion under the carbs to keep the heat down.
Here are the pipes after some fluff and buff. They should be ready for ceramic coating now. No idea on the color, can go with a chromex (basically chrome look but it's ceramic) and pretty much any other color you want. Any suggestions?
Frame is going to be cream and the tins are going to be mainly brown to match the seat with cream accents
