Great news ! Stock breaker points have been my "plan A" for 4 of these XS's over the years and it still works. Now I have to go to plan B. In this case B stands for breaker points. I've got everything
Very happy with it. Everything seems to be working great. Breaks work fine, suspension as good or better than I remember, I think with the modern tires it handles better than it ever did, fixing the broken frame probably helped. The motor is not completely broke in yet. I've only had it to 5 grand a couple of times, but between 1500 and 4000 it's got a lot of torque and very responsive. Not sure I have it in me to wind her up to 8000 plus any more. I'm sure I'll take the 38 tooth rear sprocket off and replace it with a 34 in the future. Not many Sporty's around to race anymore. All in all I coudn't be happier. Everything I did to it worked great. Except the PAMCO, a Boyer fixed that though. The pipe has a very nice sound, I do have a problem with clearance for the the kicker, looking at possible fixes for that. E-start works great so not a pressing problem. So, now that you’re out and about again, are you happy with the way it runs and rides? How about that pipe?

I've never had it hooked up. In fact the cable was removed before I bought the bike. I remember asking my brother why the cable was missing when I bought the bike from him. He said that the local Yamaha shop said it wasn't needed. The bikes started better without it. The E-start has always worked fine. I was going to ask you if you had tried yours without it.I’m curious if you are using your decompression release?
