Lowering the front forks

Hello to all,
first off i would like to thank everyone on this site for provideing excellent information, how to's and great pictures. Without this site and the people adding to this I will never get my project complet. The question i have is can the front end be lowered and if so how. please forgive me if this is a dumb question. I am in the process of building my first 80' xs650 bobber in which i am going to hardtail. I want to keep as much of the bikes original parts as possible, so any adivse is better than what i had before. Thanks....

One way that I dont think was mentioned is to move the forks up 1" in the tripple trees. Its quick and easy and you can move them back down just as easily if you decide you want it back the way it was.........BG
