I'm always skeptical we people spout out general statistics like that. For example, at my work there was an uproar about the wages in my department, Information Services. What was left out was that over half of my department has masters degrees and are certified professionals with over 15 years experience in the industry, and that given our skill levels compared to the private sector our wages are on average 20% lower. And the pool of wages they were comparing it too, most only had a high school education.

Also, that ominous "Government" is just people, elected by us. About a month ago I was at a city counsel meeting listening to a debate over a new city ordinance and this women spouted out, "Who are you to tell us what .....". An elected official, the Freaken Mayor! If you don't like it, run for Mayor, or campaign for someone who supports your views!
