New to forum. Bought a 650 special 2 new in 1980. Still got it been sitting in carport last 26 years. Pretty rough now. Put in new battery got spark when I kick her but nothing when I try starter button. Assume wires corroded. Stock carbs gone got another set of vacuum carbs but they're off and earlier bike and are 38mm so I need larger carb boots. Thinking when I get her running I should do rebuild because sitting so long. 10,000 miles on motor. Any thoughts

Heck yeah you should bring it back to life. First you need to post pictures of when you bought it and pictures of it now. Make sure to go over the brakes and replace the tires before you ride it. How's the gas tank? Don't want to mess up those carbs. Welcome to the forum! Oh yeah change the oil.
