thanks pete I'll do that. It's due for an oil change anyway so I might as well.
Hardyrd - I was getting the same run around here in BC. I just ended up getting Autolite #63's from NAPA and they work great.
gggGary - Damn! I should have done more research on these floats. Hopefully they are ok. I will install them and let you know how they go. I'm sure they'll work ok at least for a while but I didn't really look into alternatives for floats.
The usual bitch about the floats was sloppy fit on the shaft.
It's not just that Chinese manufacturing is bad, it's they way they cheapen the design till it doesn't function well..........
Looks like you and I are in the same boat. I just ordered new floats and needles for mine as one carb was puking gas. I will watch this thread to see how you get along. I likely will have to change the base oil as well.
One thing you might try is a tip I got from XSJohn. Take a Q-tip, peel off the cotton on the end. Wrap 4-0 steel wool around the q-tip. Now using just your fingers and some carb cleaner spin this Steel Q-tip in the float needle seat.
The steel wool will clean out the hard varnish on the seat as well as any burrs around the hole. Spin it a bit inspect, repeat as needed to get a bright shiny seat.
This has worked well for me on several carbs.
I was getting the Autolight AP63 plugs at WalMart. They have the platinum center electrode, Less than $5 a pair. I was In just the other day and they don't have them on the rack anymore. Kinda sucks.
