has anyone tried painting their engines with pot belly black paint , has a temp rating to 300degs c , if so how did it hold up

I did my XJ650RJ Seca 30 years ago with a HI Temp barbecue black. It held up well including pressure washing. I removed all of the engine mount bolts except rears. Sprayed the engine with "green" detergent and rinsed. Air dried with a compressor and wrapped the frame in paper and tape. I jacked up / rotated the engine with a floor jack and sprayed from the rattlecan.

Little trick for you guys.... wrap tubing and such in aluminum foil. Can be shaped any way desired and doesn't need tape to stay in place. quick easy peasy protection from overspray.
Also very easy to remove.
