Can anyone tell me if the side stands are longer on the standard model compared to the ones on the custom model?
I just feel mine leans over too far......
Cheers.
..... and most seem to benefit from extending them a little bit. I added a piece of 1/2" plate to the bottom of the one I'm using on my '83 Special. Like you, I felt the bike leaned over too much .....
I did the same to my '78 Standard. It was OK before I added longer than stock aftermarket rear shocks but with those installed, it needed it .....
Front and rear suspension length change the angle If a PO was kick start on the stand kind of guy the tang can get bent, and years of wear can sag it too.
On my '83 you could catch the side stand with the ball of yer foot just a bit fore of the peg.....the '77 is a blind search with the heel, under the peg.
On a slightly different angle (pardon the pun) I find my side stand bottoms out on left hand turns does anyone else have this problem? 78 standard model..
