What to chose

I need some advice on which clutch plates and springs to chose, been looking at mikes they have a complete set but are there better alternatives outthere.

How about a Halco type clutch ?

This Engineer is producing them and selling on eBay outright or exchange.
Looks like a good deal. He also produces a lot of other stuff for XS650 although he is not listing it at the moment.

The clutch springs from Mikesxs are not recommended. Better to buy from www.650central.com.
May cost more, but you will get quality products.
