So the cable obviously goes over the half-moon hole, bu5 the throttle that came with the bike I'd just one with the straight metal tube with no nuts to tighten it, any help is really appreciated, fyi the carb is off what I believe is a suzuki gs 70-79

On the standard throttle cable at the handle bar there's an elbow with adjustment thread and locknut.
Your half moon bracket may not be sufficient to keep the cable in place at the carb. Is that carb set's center to center spacing correct?

You will probably need the throttle cable designed for use with that carb set. I'm thinking it would have a threaded adjuster with two lock nuts on it's bottom end so it could be locked onto the bracket. But as Gary mentioned, the spacing on those carbs may not match the 650 so they may not be able to be fitted. I had a similar Suzuki set and all I could do is strip them for parts, lol.
