so as far as carb tuning goes, which is better.... a smaller pilot jet and a rich setting on the mixture screw or a larger jet and a leaner setting on the screw??
how about the main jet... big jet lean needle or small jet rich needle??
what do you think?

I don't think it matters much as long as they are providing an optimal air fuel ratio.

ide go larger jet, leaner pilot. but not too lean. you want all the fuel your engine can burn at wide open throttle, but at a cruise, your only using your pilot circiut. about 3/4 throttle, the mains come into action. you want your pilots right, then the bike will have snappy acceleration, and smoother transition to the mains. hope this helps.

What's best is the correct jetting for your particular mods. If you over compensate with the mix screw for too small a pilot, you'll get a bad, rough idle. If you lean the needle too much to make too large of a main jet work, you'll make the midrange flat and unresponsive plus lean out the upper part of the pilot circuit. If you make the midrange really rich to offset too small of a main, the bike will probably break up and stumble when going through that circuit (about 3 to 5K). And if you did have the opportunity to use full throttle, the bike would probably fall flat on it's face because it was fuel starved.
