Will the rear axel from an 81 work?

im in the middle of this...
i need a rear axel for my 78 xs650 special that has the cast wheels and disc brakes, and i am wondering if the rear axel from an 81 with drum would work. i think it would, but i wanna be sure

no, a axel is a jump in skating, however any axle from a XS650 74-83 will work ok

Gotta get it right. I can't take credit for this myself but someone (and I'm pretty damn sure it is someone on this forum) has the following in their signature:
