Finally getting to the end of restoring my 72 XS2. Left the wiring for the last. I bought a new wiring harness from Mike's, last year and just getting to hooking it up. Having problems with the front and rear flashers. Everything else is OK but can't get them to do anything. Have a new flasher. The flasher just hums when I try to use them. The flasher has 2 wires ( brown and white) power out and brown ( for power in). There is a 3rd connection that never had a wire on it. Says ground on it. Tried putting a ground wire on it but no help. I pulled the blinker switch apart and 1 wire was loose so I soldered it back and cleaned the switch.
Any ideas?

Randy, the early flasher system is another of those things that are unclear in the manuals.

If you are using the OEM round can flasher unit:

The body of the can must be grounded.
A tab on the can mounts, and grounds, the can to the bottom of the battery box.
The battery box is rubber mount isolated, and must be grounded.
The OEM battery ground wire has an additional lug that bolts to the rightside battery box bracket, grounding the box.

The "P" lead in the drawing below is not used.

Where do you get this algorithm?

welcome to the forum Fendis.

it is not clear what or to whom you are referring ?
Are you asking about the source of the Flowchart ? if so I devised and constructed it myself .
