Wanted - XS2 Rear Fender

Hi All,

Just began fixing up a 72 XS2 (first yamaha i'm working on!) and I'm in dire need of a rear fender as this bike is completely missing it. It appears that I have the mounting bar, just no fender!

Still looking for a rear fender for my xs2. I keep getting leads that end up being 74+ fenders

Anyone have a rear fender for xs2 and are serious about selling?

I changed mine to a 78 or 79 for 2 reasons. The newer fenders are shorter and I think they look cooler and I'm saving the 72 fender because it is pristine and will sell it with the bike if ever. Sorry. The 256 fenders are really hard to find. Keep looking, one may show up.

Yeah! Your rear fender appears to be off of a Special, correct?

I'm not sure. The guy that had it didn't know, but I'm guessing you're correct. The lens that came with the 79 was rectangular, so I put the 72 tail light lens on that light fixture to maintain a semi stock look!

I like the looks of the shorter fender, I may just do that until I find an early fender I can go with!

Yes, the 74 and up used a shorter rear fender. If you find a good one, make sure you get the black plastic front portion. Warning: The newer fender does not bolt straight on. The plastic section is held on with cable ties. I also had to drill holes to mount the chrome part to the frame. Look closer, (sorry not a good pict), and you will notice that the chrome fender support and signal light holder is gone. It vibrated to pieces back in 79.

Ive got a rear fender from my 72 XS I’ll sell you- it’s got a little pitting and a couple minor dings but is in otherwise good shape- tail lamp and license bracket on it as well- make me an offer..
