No spark, left side and updated project.

Hello all, It's been a while. After a first go-round of my full project build ('12-'13), riding it daily for almost a year, a secondary teardown for proper paint and odds (spring'14), it's now back together again. I had the bike together and running strong last summer/fall (after the 2nd...

Broadway Sports Bar just north of The Pearl on Friday June 28th around 7ish. I'm not the organizer and I've never attended but was invited by a a guy in the neighborhood to this Friday's hotrod and bike night. Don't know what to expect but I'm hoping to rally a few local XSs to check it out...

    another carb Q.

I got my fresh rebuild project running a few weeks ago. After resolving a no left cylinder spark issue the first day, the 277pamco/capacitor engine was running strong, smooth, and surprisingly responsive. I took it for some laps around the neighborhood over the next few days...everything still...

    No spark, left side.

Hello, After many months of tearing down, building, rebuilding, and assembly, I finally kicked over my project for the first time early this week. After many kicks, the bike finally started but only on the right cylinder. I have power to the coils, both coils check out just fine, I've...

    welding question regarding electronics.

After staring at my project for a few days, I finally figured out what I think is a clean solution for hanging two coils, the reg, and capacitor short of having a fake oil bag. my question...can I tack weld the small bracket I've fab'ed with coils in place? or, do I need to make a fixture in...

    Cam Chain Tensioner washer Q

I installed the cam chain tensioner last night on my fresh rebuild and never saw any movement in the plunger rod so I removed it for further inspection. I noticed two washers, one small and one thicker with a shoulder, between the spring and threaded adjuster. These two washers are preventing...

    Timing plate adjustment bolt size?

What size are the two timing plate (pamco plate) bolts? I'm trying to get some momentum going on my build, again, and keep getting derailed by missing bolts and bits. thanks, avenue.

    Cam Bearing Q?

How tight should new bearings be on the ends of a cam shaft? The four external bearings, not the bushings. Four new bearings showed up recently from Mike's and they seem a bit tight on the ends of the cam. Two will slide onto one side with just a bit of persuasion, the other two will not...

    pamco indexing pin issue.

The locating pin on my advance rod is too tall for the pamco to slide into place. That, or the indexing slots on the pamco were cut too short. If the indexing pin is pressed further into the advance rod (I have not done this) it looks like the fit will be loose, resulting in some side to side...

    red status dot?

I don't recall my online status dot being red instead of the typical green I see on other members' posts. Is this a new feature or was I red flagged for some reason and was not informed?

    Avenue Build

Hello all, I've been reading, searching, learning, and enjoying the collective wealth of knowledge within these pages. Thanks for the help, info, and inspiration. Here is my somewhat abridged build journal to catch anyone interested up to speed. Unfortunately, I lost quite a few images...

    Head bolt washers?

Quick Q, I'm getting ready to put my top end back together after buying my project in pieces and refreshing the engine. Do the bolts and acorn nuts on the head require washers? I would think so but the PO was pretty meticulous about ziplocking every single part on the bike during...

    Cam out of True?

Hello, I'm finally getting my project engine back together and have concerns about the cam possibly being out of true after a professional re-phase. An email is out to the builder but I thought I'd hear what others have to say, too. With the bearings seated and the cam centered, the sprocket...

    Float Height Adjustment Q?

I just took apart, cleaned, compressed air'd, installed new o-rings, float needles and have now moved onto adjusting the float height on my '83 stock carbs. To get into my clymer manual's specs, I'm having to bend the tangs quite a bit, so much that I'm second guessing either the specs. or my...

    RD250

Does anyone have experience with the RD250? A friend of mine just picked one up on a trade and is looking for some support. I searched for RD specific forums but can't seem to find one with the dedication I see around here. Any helpful links or tips is appreciated. avenue.

    Starter cross-over shaft removal Q.

I'm going kick-only on my current project. Clearly, I will be blocking off the starter input, the gears on the starter plate are coming out, and I'd like to take out the starter cross-over shaft and gears, also. Just trying to simplify as much as possible. My question is, do I need to...

    Media blasting protocol?

What's the protocol on preparing an engine for media blasting? My engine is torn down, sitting on the bench, everything is out except the trans shifter, and a few starter gear shafts. It's awaiting a light rebuild and I want to remove the crappy, worn out black paint before going back...
