Well ridding down the freeway today I lost my clutch adjustment screw, lock nut and cover. I can find the cover for sale at mikesxs. I can't find the screw and nut for sale without buying a 60 kit that includes the worm gear and other parts. Anybody have a lead for me.

Clutch replacement. What should I replace?

Hey XS! I've got a (new to me) 1979 xs650 special. I took it out for a spin the other day and when I accelerate quickly the clutch is slipping. What would you suggest replacing? plates, springs, drive plates, etc? What are your thoughts?

    Clutch lever pivot bushing

I've been working on the 79 survivor. With only 9400 miles the PO's were having clutch issues, there was a new cable, what looks like a new factory worm assembly. And they still had it fuggled up, First I backed off the cable adjuster all the way, then reset the worm screw, that got it back...

    Source of driveline snatch

The problem is with my 77'D with 6700 miles on the clock. I've searched the forum and read about the damper springs on the back of the clutch and their willingness to break and cause driveline snatch. Mine however seem to be fine. When I'm idling around in first gear the snatch is quite...

    Clutch relocation

Just throwing this idea out there, but has anyone ever made a jockey shift where the shaft of the shifter has a joint where it pivots either in or out from the bike and engages/disengages the clutch? Think this is possible? The connection between the shifter shaft and the motor would have to be...

Hey there. I'm building an xs650 chopper that I bought off a guy who hardtailed it then let it sit for like 10 years. I got the motor started and am now hooking up all the controls and hoping to drive her soon. Motor feels good. I went to hook up the clutch cable today and realized the...

    Gear selector mechanism is stripped

I forgot to screw my gear selector lever back in and it came loose. Had to stop on the side of the road because I couldn't change gears. Stripped the thread on both the lever and the gear selector mechanism. Definitely will be buying a new gear lever but my question is, how easy or hard would it...

The dirtiest LH engine side chain area contest.

Here's my contender; note that the sprocket has lot of miles in it yet. Maintenance? Yeah I do maintenance the ex gets $600 a month..... Winner gets a set of Gary's valve cover o-rings! It's gotta be "original" old grease, we can tell if you start throwing new glop in there! Note...

Whats up with these clutch springs ??

I'm doing a resto on my 1976C with 17K miles. It was running OK before I fully dismantled it. The clutch was functioning OK, too. I've just dismantled the clutch. The steel discs are OK and not warped, and the friction discs are worn only about half way. The clutch springs have me a bit...
