I'm looking for tips/tricks on how to polish the valve cover, since its not a flat surface and it has several spaces that are tricky to get to. Products/ tools that you used would be great.
Thanks
1) So I'm closing in on the some of the final fit and finish for the summer, though I still have 100 things I want to do or change. But I took the bike out for a short ride this afternoon and when I was rolling around the neighborhood I was hearing/feeling a clunk that didn't seem to be in tune...
In the attached images I'd like to cut out the detail that is painted. Any suggestions? I thought about using my small dremel but even the smallest cutting wheel won't be able to make some of those corners. Any suggestions are welcome. It's about 16 gauge metal I'm cutting through.
I don't have...
I am going to use one of the leafs gold, copper or silver. I like the look of the engine turned gold leaf but prefer the color of the copper, BUT looking at my bike and enjoying a beer while lementing this decision i realized I have nothing of either color on my bike so am now leaning towards...
I am powder coating my engine and had a question for all ya'll. I used matte black; the valve cover turned out good as well as the smaller parts. however the cylinders and head turned out more semi-gloss than matte.
I was wondering if this had to do with thickness or possibly heat time...
Hi, guys...
This particular question isn't directly related to my TX, but could be. In this instance it's a cleaning question that relates to my '05 Ninja 250R:
I have Supertrapp cans on this bike - the sort that have the disks and end caps. Consequently, as part of their design, exhaust...
Anyone else painted their helmet?
I just "finished" this one. I was just bored and the gloss black was not working for me.
Figured id go for the weathered old school look.
Happy with it, but would love to do another. Helmets unfortunately are pricier then canvas!

Just wondering if you can soda blast with a regular media blaster (ie. glass bead, glass grit etc.) I was talking to a body shop guy who said you need a special $8000 dollar machine. I'm pretty sure you don't but I want somebody's input on this who tried it.
I bought a bag of feed grade soda...

Hey Guys,
Well I set a finish date for the bike as late April meaning I have just shy of two months. I will be starting a build thread this week some point to get some finishing ideas and some motivation.
I started painting a ton of pieces today and did it the best way I knew how. I...
Hello,
Just a quick basic question about painting. I'm painting my clutch
Cover and am using Rustolem engine paint 500 degree. I know the
2000 degree you have to bake. Can I bake my 500 degree paint?
There are no instructions to but it seems like a good thing to do
To keep the paint on...
I have been searching for the last few days on engine case paint. I am wanting to paint my motor while it is out of the frame. I read that PJ1 was the better choice so I went to http://www.pj1.com website and there is a link for VHT on there home screen. I read on the forum somewhere that VHT...
