Great idea Jim! You might consider taking a hot center punch or such and "flare" the seal end of your tubing, wouldn't need a washer.......

posting this everywhere but I'm finding some tungsten disulfide rubbed on dry rubber seals is like a powdered miracle. It immediately bonds to the rubber, turns it silver.
