just started my winter resto 78 650 special planning on repainting tank and side covers is there a way to get the clips off the side emblems allready broke 1 side

You pry those locks off the back with a small pick.

I've never gotten one off without breaking it. I use cement to put the emblem back on.

thanks for the help used the push through method it worked good just started powder coating motor last night here is pic of ign. cover done in text. black going to do rest of motor the same with alum. parts and cylinder fin ends polished[/IMG]

The powder coat looks awesome!! Can't wait to see the motor complete!!

I'm interested to see how your bike turns out. I have a 78' special & I've just spent a bucket load of cash & time on all the stuff you can't see. Pamco, PMA, bronze swingarm bushes, clutch, filters etc. I hope your build goes well.
