Hi DQG,
I got no effin' idea but it's nice, eh? Although it's front end could use a fork brace and my elderly arse would appreciate a thicker seat pad.

My arse would appreciate one too and it ain't quite elderly, just yet. I just love how clean the bike is. That front wheel looks like it comes off a honda dirtbike?

Thanks Steve. I'll definitely look through it. I hopefully will make a play on a post '73 bike soon (yes, I've learned my lesson).

Well I've acquired a '76 xs650 and will be attempting to duplicate the simplicity of this bike. Frame and engine are good. Everything else is crappy so I'll be selling a bunch of stuff off. Stay tuned (but don't hold your breath).

Putting together a game plan.

Thanks.. all tips appreciated as I do my research. I've reached out to Scotch & Iron to see if they have any more info on the build.

Well, I reached out to Scotch & Iron and turns out that bike was built by Russell Taylor and I am trying to obtain more information from him. Those rims are 21" with Kenda tires, and the gas tank is a harley tank. It's a no battery kick start only. The '76 I have now has a PAMCO and a broken starter so I'm going to get rid of the starter and go either with a capacitor or very small battery.

I have changed the title of this thread, accordingly.

Here is a little different spin on that style with fat wheels. I am just finishing it up. I like the skinny tires too. Dual headlights is the final build other was mockup. Bike was in accident from original build and tank/seat/clip ons/controls were all damaged.

Not understanding what's so difficult. Search front wheel conversions on here maybe? Other than that looks just like a simple chop job. I don't like it honestly.

I freaking dig this. Nice job!

Upside down forks look interesting but does knobby front tire affect the handling very much?

Handles for shit on the street and you burn through them knobs quicker than a teenagers clutch on his first stick shift, but if your going for that road warrior running from the Humungus look that's the ticket.

Just snagged this off ebay. Perfect mix of safety and going for as close a bare front rim as on the original build. I am not going to run a dingy front drum off a 70's dirtbike. The brake drum is off a xs400 so I'm hoping I won't have trouble slotting it on those 650 forks.

Not going to run those big knobby tires. I'll run a pair of 21" shinko dual sports.

I guess you'll still have quicker brakes than most of the cars on the road, and better brakes than Fred Flintstone. I sure don't miss the days of two drum brakes.

Scott
